About Nicky
I’m Nicky, a textile artist working from my home studio in Cheshire.
I studied woven textile design, and for over 30 years I’ve been drawn to colour, texture and how materials work together. Much of my inspiration comes from the outdoors – from my own garden to walks in the hills – where natural shapes and details inspire and find their way into my work.
My pieces begin as hand needle-felted artwork, built up using vibrant wool fibres and refined over time through a process of trial, adjustment and careful making. Each design is finished with my signature zip edging, adding structure and a subtle glint of contrast to the soft wool.
From these original artworks, I create a range of brooches, greeting cards and small gifts, allowing the designs to be worn, sent and enjoyed in different ways.
My work is stocked in a small number of independent shops, including the National Trust shop at Tatton Park in Cheshire, and I also sell directly to customers across the UK and beyond.
Each piece is made with care and attention to detail, bringing together colour, texture and a crisp, contemporary feel.
